Beginner's Class Tai Chi Chuan | Zurich Winter 2024

The graceful, harmonious movements of Tai Chi Chuan are fascinating. Yet genuine Tai Chi Chuan, also called Taijiquan or Tai Chi, offers far more.
It combines: movement with inner calm, mental strength and focus with relaxation, agility with internal force and stability, martial art and self defense with the gentle, flowing force of the dragon.

What are the benefits of Tai Chi Chuan?

If you make Tai Chi Chuan part of your daily life, it will boost your health and increase your energy level. You learn to relax, find inner calm and can better deal with stress and pressure. Your physical and mental performance is improved. And of course as you progress with Tai Chi Chuan you will be able to defend yourself.

What are the requirements?

There are no requirements for our beginner's class. You do not have to be fit or sporty. But if you practice some sports or have learned an Asian martial art before, you will most likely learn the initial patterns faster. Regardless of what you bring, you can meet the above objectives.

Immortal Waves Sleeve Tai Chi Chuan PatternYou will learn the pattern "Immortal waves Sleeve" in our first class.

In the beginner's class...

... we will start with the basics. You learn to relax, stay focused and generate an energy flow.

You will then discover the most important stances and learn how to move with Yin-Yang harmony. This will give you both stability and agility. You will learn how to practice stance training (Zhang Zhuang) and understand its usefulness.

Now we are ready to learn the fundamental form "Grasping Sparrow’s Tail“. While learning the form, you will also get a first glimpse of its application.

Some background information about the history, the philosophy and the principles of Tai Chi Chuan complete the training. Once you have completed this course, you can practice a first short form by yourself.

And if you enjoyed your first steps, you can continue at level 2 of our Wahnam Tai Chi Chuan syllabus and join the advanced class. There you will train your sensing skills using "Pushing Hands"and discover a second form "White Crane Flaps Wings".
